John Willie Wilson Sr.

Mr. John Willie Wilson Sr., 80, passed away Nov. 23, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Wilson was born in Savannah but lived in Effingham County for a number of years. He was a crane operator, a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, a Past Master of Guyton Masonic Lodge No. 428 F&AM, and a member of Rincon Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn Wilson of Guyton; son, John Willie Wilson Jr. of Midway; two daughters, Dianne Wilson Patrick and Cheryl Webb Donaldson, both of Guyton; brother, Ernie H. Wilson of Shawnee; two sisters, JoAnn Fortner and Margaret Phillips, both of Blichton; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 25 at Riggs Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26 in the chapel of Riggs Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Springer officiating. Interment followed in the Guyton Cemetery with military honors and Masonic rites. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
