Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Sara Helen Mims Bozeman, 92, of Plains, Ga., who died March 4, 2014, were held Friday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Rev. C.G. Haugabook and Mashuq Askerzada will officiate.
Mrs. Bozeman was born Oct. 25, 1921 in Plains. She was the daughter of the late George Thomas Mims Sr. and Minnie Louise Carroll. Mrs. Bozeman worked as the secretary for the Sumter County Board of Education for 15 years in association with Mr. Ed Bridges. She left this position in 1955 to marry her beloved husband, the late Mr. David E. Bozeman.
She was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. She was a strong yet tender woman, who loved and cared for her family and always encouraged others.
She is survived by her loving family of two daughters, Carol Lynn Griggs (Marvin) of Preston and Diane B. Worrell (Roy) of Perry; grandchildren, Meagan Tate (Adam), Adam Griggs (Sarita), Jessica Hord and Ashley Pierce (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Bryce, Emma and Lincoln Tate, Lowin Eli Griggs, Austin Hord, and Tessa and Anna Pierce. She is also survived by a faithful sister, Carol Anderson; brother, George Mims (Helen); and a number of special nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the home of Carol Anderson, 220 Paschal St. in Plains, or at Maranatha Baptist Church from 1-1:45 p.m. on March 7.
