William Henry Young Jr.

William Henry Young Jr., son of William and Mary Young of Savannah, died April 25, 2014.
Mr. Young had been a long time resident of Guyton. After serving in the U.S. Navy and being decorated with the Purple Heart and numerous other medals, Mr. Young attended Georgia Tech and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in law. During his near 40 years as an attorney for the Corps of Engineers, he earned a Juris Doctorate from Duke University.
He attended New Providence Baptist Church in Guyton, where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. The family gives many thanks to devoted friend Dorothy Drew and Hospice Advantage.
Survivors include his wife, Joan M. Young; children, Cheryle Young, Suzanne Young and Steven Young (April); sister, Doris Flythe; step-children, Al Beaupre (Joyce), Mike Beaupre (Trish), Melodie Criswell (Robert "Bobby"), Lynn Jarriel and Gary Jarriel (Annie); grandchildren, Cheryle Schaeffer, Lindsay Nelson, Justen Young, Zachary Young, Samuel Killingsworth, Caitlin Killingsworth and Robin Lugo; and a great-grandson, Hayden Nelson.
Visitation was on Sunday, April 27 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral was on Monday, April 28 at New Providence Baptist Church.
Interment followed at Hillcrest East.
