Donald Gene "Tadpole" Bryant, 78, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Ogeechee Area hospice in Statesboro.
The Savannah native was a member of Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Ellabell. He retired from Union Camp/International paper after working there 43 years. He also served as president of Savannah Bike Club. He rode in BRAG (Bicycle Ride Across Georgia).
He loved fishing, planting in his garden, watching "MASH" reruns and the movie "Jaws" over and over with his daughter. Most importantly, he loved and cared for his special-needs daughter, inventing ways to overcome the obstacles to give her the best of care.
His parents were Donald H. Bryant and Ronnie S. Bryant.
Survivors include his wife, Shirly Ann Bryant; two daughters, Kimberly Coyer and her husband, Don, and Karen Bryant; a brother, the Rev. Dan Bryant; a sister, Jeanette "Dee" Jackson and her husband, Ray; and several nieces.
The funeral was conducted Nov. 27, 2018, in the West Chatham Chapel of Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home. Burial followed in Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
