SPRINGFIELD- Doris Weitman Baumgartner, 81, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 at Effingham Hospital.

The Tift County native was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle. She retired from the City of Springfield as City Clerk after 25 years and was one of the first Certified City Clerks certified in the state of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, George McDaniel and Nettie Mathis; husbands, Elbert G. Weitman and John J. Baumgartner; three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her children, Beverly Weitman Evans (Mike) of Newington, Gary E. Weitman (Dixie) of Springfield, and Mac Weitman of Smyrna; five grandchildren, Matthew Evans of Rincon, Michelle Guy of Newington, Melissa Davidson of Pembroke, Stephanie Weitman of Springfield and Stephen Weitman of Newington; six great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow in the Springfield Cemetery.
