UVALDA-Ernest William Ford, 64, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness.

He was a native of Chatham County and graduated from Jenkins High School in 1961. Mr. Ford attended Bethel The Church of God. He served in the Marine Corps from 1961 until 1965. He worked for 40 years as an electrician with IBEW Local 508 in Savannah and retired in April 2006. Mr. Ford enjoyed sports, watching western movies and spending time with his grandkids. He loved working with his hands and was a man of few words.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Ford; and two grandsons, Johnny Calvin Partin Jr. and Phillip Dewayne Jaudon.
Survivors include his wife, Cornelia "Connie" T. Ford of Uvalda; his son, Yancy Ford (Deidre) of Guyton; his son/grandson, Adam Partin; his sister, Elizabeth Andrews of Savannah; his niece, Sadie McCarty; step-children, Terry Lennox (Shari) of Rincon, Teresa Jaudon of Springfield, Angela Askew (Dawayne) of Macon, and Johnny Partin (Brenda) of Lyons; his grandchildren, Matthew Ford, Joshua Ford, Jaime Lennox, Justin Lennox, Melanie Hammock (Robert) of Vidalia, Jimmy Partin (Hope) of Uvalda, Joey Partin of Lyons, Timothy Jaudon and Tiffany Jaudon; his great-grandchildren, Breanna Mitchum, Blake Horton, Bryce DeLoach, Mackenzie DeLoach, Hunter Hammock, Riley Hammock, Jessalyn Partin, Slade Partin, L.J. Partin, and Jace Partin; and his cousins, Sandra Williams of Blitchton, and Mike Rachley of Savannah.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Bethel The Church of God.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bethel The Church of God with Rev. Ricky McCarty and Rev. Melvin Kramer officiating.
Burial will be in the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery.
