Frederick "Gibson" Huger (Hoot), 78, of Rincon passed away, Tuesday, March 20, 2018, peacefully at his home with his family.
A memorial service was conducted March 23, 2018, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 155 Goshen Road, Rincon, with a gathering following the service for family and friends in the church social hall. Father David Rose officiated.
Gibson was born March 14, 1940, in Hamilton, Bermuda, to the late Voorhees Ward and the late Alice Beekman Huger Ward. He graduated grade school from Riverside Military Academy, graduated college from Armstrong State College, attended UGA and served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged from in 1968. He enjoyed working on his farm and operating heavy equipment, enjoyed flying ultra-light planes and was a member of Briar Patch Flying Club. He enjoyed traveling and staying in his camper, loved the lake and spending time with his family.
Gibson is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Reynolds Huger; two daughters, Emily Elizabeth Huger and Alice Huger Hurst; and son-in-law, Clint Hurst; all of Rincon; and his three grandchildren, Hanna and Ty Pippin, and Carson Luke Hurst. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers and one sister.
