– Mrs. Helen T. Slater, 84, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Helen was born in Savannah to the late Fred and Maude Tidwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd B. "L.B." Slater; a son, Lloyd Edmond Slater; stepfather, Tillman Parker; and her stepmother, Margaret Tidwell. She retired from Certainteed and was a member of the Meldrim United Methodist Church where she attended the Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James S. and Joan Slater; grandchildren, Jared Slater and Jill Slater; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 5-8 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral was Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at Meldrim United Methodist Church with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be given to the Meldrim United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 49, Meldrim, GA 31318 or to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannnah, GA 31416.
