James Edward "Ed" Lockhart, 81, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.
He was born Jan. 17, 1932 in Swainsboro to the late Mamie Edenfield Lockhart and Mitchell Duvall Lockhart. He graduated from high school in Brooklet, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company and was an avid Goldwing motorcycle rider. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon and former member of Southside Baptist Church in Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Glyness Scarborough Lockhart.
 Survivors include his wife of seven years, Jean Ballentine Lockhart; brothers, Bill Lockhart (Thelma) and Gene Lockhart; children, Vicki Lockhart Sumner (Richard), James Ronald Lockhart (Susan) and Teresa "Terri" Lockhart Burroughs (Tim); step-daughter, Valeria Ballentine Maier (Tom); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 30, from 10-11 a.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
Interment followed in Hillcrest West.
