John Lewis Chase, 76, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 in the home of his daughter.
Mr. Chase retired after 24 years of service in the Air Force, along with 15 years in the food service business and another 10 years as a bus driver. He was a devoted father and provider for his family. He was a huge Alabama "Roll Tide" fan and enjoyed nothing better than getting together with family and friends for a cookout, card games or just sitting around the pool having fun. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Miriam Sanders and Earline Chase Jackson, and brothers, Buford Chase and Arrol Chase.
He is survived by his children, Robby Chase (Amy), Vicky Burney (David), Helen Ramaglia (John), Cathy Hall (Henry) and Sandy Chase; sister, LeMerle Hill; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 1 from 3-5 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral was Monday, Dec. 2, at 12 noon at South Newington Baptist Church. Rev. Steve McCoy officiated and the pallbearers were Damon Chase, Joseph Ford, Joshua Powell, Clint Peth, David Peth and John Ramaglia.
Interment followed at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
