John Wesley Ward, 68, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Hospice Savannah.
The Macon native served in the U.S. Army, was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council. He retired from Savannah Christian Preparatory School as principal of the middle school after 21 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Clinton Ward and Gertrude White Ward; and brother, Paul E. Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Owens Ward; children, Stephen (Valarie) Ward of Rincon and Allison (Dwayne) Gard of Pooler; grandchildren, Emily, Tyler and Wesley Ward, John Thomas and Hannah Jane Gard; sisters, Mary Joyce (Goodloe) Love of Pennsylvania, Marion (Errol) Tootle of Mississippi and Lena Frances (Dwight) Lindsey of Alabama; sister-in-law, Ann Ward of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 17 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services were Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
