John W.H. Phillips, 65, of Meldrim went to be the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013. He was born in Ontario, Canada, and was preceded in death by his father, John W. (Bill) Phillips.

John was a retired sergeant from the U.S. Army and was retired from Owens Corning. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Airhead Motorcycle Club. He loved his family very much, and loved riding his motorcycle and going on bike rally adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cason Phillips; son, John W.H. Phillips II; daughters, Jackie Phillips Dasher (Tim), Jessica Phillips Hight (Carl) and Patricia Wilson (Dago); his mother, Edna Raper Phillips; brothers, Robert Phillips, Daniel Phillips, Thomas Phillips (Sherry) and Edward Phillips (Sandy); and seven grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 22 at Fairhaven Funeral Home in Garden City.
A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 23 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial followed at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Guyton.
