GUYTON- Lois "Granny" Arrington, 100, went to be with her Heavenly Father, on Oct. 14, 2008, at her residence with her loving family at her side.

She was born Dec. 22, 1907, to the late Marvin and Mamie Pennington near Wrens. She married Marcus Arrington, also from Wrens in 1924. They had four children, to whom she was a loving, caring and devoted mother to. They later moved to Port Wentworth in 1943. They owned Arrington Groceries in Monteith for many years.
Sister Lois was the oldest member and attended Living Faith Church of God in Guyton, formerly known as Garden City Church of God since 1946, until her health failed the past few months. She enjoyed her grandchildren and watching and listening to her gospel tapes. Besides her parents, Mrs. Arrington is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Marcus Arrington; her oldest son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Mickey Arrington; daughter-in-law, Betty Arrington; a son-in-law, Leonard Butler; a grandson, Paul Arrington, all of Guyton; great granddaughter, Shannon Arrington of New Jersey; four sisters, and two brothers.
Mrs. Arrington is survived by three loving children, Allen Arrington of Atlanta, Harold (Diane) Arrington and Shirley A. Butler, all of Guyton; 12 loving grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Pennington of Aiken, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members and friends that are left to cherish her memories.
The family would like to thank the nurses at B&B Care, Paulina Jones, Kathy Emanuel, and Jodie Cameron, for taking special care of "Granny" in the last couple of years of her being with us.
Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Celebrations of Mrs. Arrington's life will be held in the funeral home chapel 11 a.m. Friday. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Effingham Memorial Gardens on Highway 119, Springfield.
