Mary Ann Miller 83, of Guyton passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Ogeechee Area Hospice, Statesboro,. She was born March 2, 1935, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Joseph Anthony Thren and Katherine Finch Thren of Springfield.
Aside from being a homemaker, Mary Ann worked at the Georgia Welcome Center at I-95, was a draftsperson at a consulting engineering firm and previously at a phone company and an electric company. Her hobbies included knitting, cake decorating, flower arranging, painting, sewing, needlepoint and gardening. She enjoyed baking cakes, cookies and pies, especially at Christmastime. Christmas was her favorite time of the year as she would decorate the whole house and she could wrap a present like no other. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, James Whitcomb Miller of Springfield, her son, Duane Evan Miller, and his wife, Karen, of Guyton; and daughter, Michele Louise Oliver, and her husband, Rick, of Blounts Creek, N.C. She had four grandchildren, Richard Oliver III, Daniel Oliver, Michael Miller and Matthew Miller; two step-grandchildren, Sean Connelly and Kayla Brackett; three great grandchildren, Atticus Oliver, Damon Oliver, Charlotte Oliver; and other neices.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Thren of Virginia, and survived by Gene's wife, Charlotte. She was also survived by her brother, J. Edward Thren, and his wife, Leona ,of Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Mary Ann Millers' name may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo St. Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
