PINEORA-Paul H. "Pete" Ambrose, 77, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at his residence.

The Screven County native was a member of Pineora Baptist Church where he held many positions in the church. He retired from Union Camp in 1990 and served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne in 1950-51 during the Korean conflict and was a paratrooper. He was a founder and member of W.P.R. Hunting Club, the Guyton Masonic Lodge #428 F. & A.M., an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew David Ambrose and Ila Mae Wilder Ambrose; daughter, Vivian Diane Ambrose; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Butler Ambrose of Pineora; two daughters, Betty Jo Andronikos of Savannah, Patty Nichols (Gary) of Guyton; three sons, Donald Ambrose (Sonnia) of Guyton, Bret Ambrose (Rachel) of Guyton, and Paul Ambrose (Holly) of Rincon; one brother, Bobby Ambrose of Pooler; one sister, Eva Ambrose of Thunderbolt; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday at Pineora Baptist Church.
