GUYTON - Robert Edward Clay, 67, passed away Oct. 19, 2018, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Kentucky native was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed at Johns Manville and Owens Corning until retirement in 2017 after 47 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Joan Clay; and sister, Barbara Ann Orendorff.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Linda Stapleton Clay; daughters, Pamela Diane Dotson (Ronnie) and Jennifer Lenora Hartranft (Jesse); grandchildren, Amber Fries, Danny Fries III, Miranda, Xander Hartranft, and Alexa Hartranft; great-granddaughter, Ella Fries; sisters, Bonita Saxon (Robert), Sue Ann Kosman (Rob), and Lela Snider; brother-in-law, Bartow Orendorff; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, in the Effingham Chapel of Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 5 p.m.
