Roy C. Nease, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Effingham Hospital.
The Effingham County native was a retired sawmill operator and was the oldest member of Marlow United Methodist Church. The World War II Army Air Corps veteran had served on the Effingham County School Board and was a member of the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norene Nease, and his son, Roy C. Nease Jr.
Survivors include his son, Norman Nease (Marcie); daughter-in-law, Lenora Nease; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Marlow Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to Marlow United Methodist Church.
