Sadie Usher Shearouse, 100, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at her daughter's residence.
The Effingham County native was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church and had retired as an elementary school teacher in Effingham County. She graduated from Georgia Southern College and had played basketball for South Georgia Teachers College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carswell Shearouse Jr., and her son, Wayne Shearouse.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Zeigler (Gill); son, Wendell Shearouse (Oscelia); daughter-in-law, Libby Shearouse; a sister, Freida Morgan; three grandchildren, Sherry Duff (Dwayne), Randy Shearouse (Rhonda) and April Pilcher (Mike); great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Mary Lauren Duff, Kieffer and Annah Shearouse, Mason and Colt Pilcher; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Willie Mae Moody and Abby Tebeau.
The visitation and funeral were Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Springfield United Methodist Church.
Interment followed at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be made to the Effingham County Retired Educators Scholarship Fund.
