Sharon Ruth Ulmer, 62, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at her residence.
The Chatham County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield and the Eastern Star. She was employed with the Effingham County Board of Education before going to work for Walmart where she was employed for over 27 years. She was a member of the Effingham County High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was preceded in death by her parents, George Alwyn Ulmer Jr. and Margaret Ruth Thompson Ulmer.
Survivors include her brother, George Allen "Woody" Ulmer (Martha) of Taichung, Taiwan; nephews, Gabe and Jarrett Ulmer of Lynchburg, Va., and Zachary Ulmer of Taichung, Taiwan; special cousin and caregiver, Diane Bridges Rigelwood of Savannah; an aunt and several cousins.
Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 14 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Springfield.
Interment followed in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be given to the ALS Association, or Order of the Eastern Star Benevolence Fund, 5450 McGinnis Village Place, Ste. 103, Alpharetta, GA 30005.
