Bennie J. Hand, 77, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Hospice Savannah.

The Hazelhurst native was a member of Bridgeford Church of God and served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Owens Corning and loved fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Hand and Cornelia Ogilvie Hand; daughters, Julie Ann and Peggy Joyce Hand; and brothers, Homer and Grady Hand.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. Hand of Rincon; son, Jurell (Cindy) Hand of Hendersonville, N.C.; grandchildren, D'Andre and Shayla Hand of Hendersonville, N.C.; brother, Rev. Charles Hand of Long Beach, Miss.; sisters, Geraldine Lanier of Guyton and Ellowine Hall of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 14, followed by funeral services in the chapel of Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
