Florence Nell Bazemore, 82, of Sylvania went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center.

She was born in Screven County on Aug. 2, 1930 to the late Thomas Rufus and Dicey Gay Bazemore. Nell was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church in Sylvania. She attended the Brunswick Junior College for a year and had retired after 24 years as the environmental control director in Screven County. She was actively involved in many organizations within her church. During her adult life she taught many children and adult Sunday school classes as well as served as church clerk for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Jerome Bazemore, and son, Marvin Jerome Bazemore. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, E. Gaynell and Shau-Fai Tse of Potomac, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Betty Bazemore and Ernestine Bazemore, both of Savannah, and Martha Bazemore of Portal; and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation was held Saturday, March 30 at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 31 in Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. David Wheeler officiating, with assistance from Rev. Jimmy Mulkey, Rev. David Buie, Rev. Doug Cone and Rev. Karen Zeigler.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rollin Blakey, Buster Bazemore, Glen Reddick, Edwin Reddick, Willie Zeigler and Will Zeigler.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Friendship Baptist Church: Rick Harsey, Paul Longwater, Ed Friese, Jerry Reddick, Kirk Scott, Charles Scott, Dana Waters, Robert Lariscy, Brian Hendrix, Billy Evans, Jess Blakey and Jerry Mallard.
