ELKIN — Mrs. Helen Finney Anderson, 93, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Chatham Nursing & Rehab. Mrs. Anderson was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Surry County to W.A. "Bud" and Mabel Thompson Finney. Mrs. Anderson was a graduate of Greensboro College and a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Anderson. Survivors include sons, George L. "Andy" Anderson Jr. and wife Wanda of Yadkinville, John B. Anderson and wife Linda of Whispering Pines, Barry A. Anderson of Kill Devil Hills and James W. Anderson and wife Lynn of Hurdle Mills; grandchildren, Greg Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Carli Anderson, Kendall Anderson and David Anderson; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, Jeremy and Jordan. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery with a memorial service following at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Dr. Rick Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family request memorials may be made to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Foundation Urgent Care Project, P.O. Box 560, Elkin, NC 28621; Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge St., Elkin, NC 28621; or to the donor's choice.
