ELKIN — Mr. Alden Derwin Gravely, 57, of Elkin, died Monday, April 28, at Hugh Chattam Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1957, in Radford, Va., to the late Coagle Draper Gravely and Mary Elizabeth Hanks. Mr. Gravely worked 40 years for AT&T as a billing clerk and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bootsie Gravely of the home; daughter, Angel Marie Duncan of State Road; sons, Dewayne and Jason Gravely of Dobson; grandchildren, Shaunna Marie Anderson, Kayla Anderson, Noah, Riley, Amy and Emma Gravely; great-grandchild, Mykel Anderson; sisters, Jane Hawks of Mount Airy, Iva Galyean of Mount Airy, Gracie Gravely of Mount Airy, Sheila Eversole of Pulaski, Va.; brothers, Van Gravely from Pulaski, Vincent Gravely of Pulaski, Jarvis Gravely of Pulaski; many sisters and brothers-in-law; and many friends and co-workers of the AT&T family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gravely was preceded in death by his grandchild, Dillon Anderson; and brother, Damon Gravely. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Tim Smith. The family will receive friends from noon to time of the service.
