Chester Elwood Darnell, age 87 of Jonesville passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Darnell was born in Wilkes County on September 10, 1926 to the late Frank and Mary Crabb Darnell. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his former wife, Lois Myers Darnell; and a son, Gary Darnell.
Mr. Darnell is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Shore Darnell of the home; children, Terry Darnell & wife Joyce of Roaring River, Michael "Hoppy" Darnell & wife JoAnn of Ronda, Edward Darnell & wife Patricia of State Road, Patricia Fowler & husband Jim of Dobson, Roger Darnell & wife Tammy of Elkin, Ricky Darnell of State Road; 17 grandchildren, 27, great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Cool Springs Baptist Church led by Rev. Bobby Norman and Rev. Adam Darnell. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery with military honors presented by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 6:00-8:00p.m., at Central Full Gospel Church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Darnell to, Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
