ELKIN — Coy Blan Blevins, 89, of Elkin, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Blevins was born in Surry County on Oct. 14, 1924, to the late James Monroe Blevins and Elizabeth Brooks Blevins. He was a member of Mulberry Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Delmas Blevins, Oscar Blevins, Bert Blevins, J.T. Blevins and Aldean Blevins; and three sisters, Beatrice Wilmoth, Thelma Poplin, and Viola Norman. Mr. Blevins is survived by his loving wife, Bertie Southard Blevins; 11 nephews; and seven nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Mulberry Primitive Baptist Church led by Elder Alvin Hill and the Rev. Craig Key. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friend from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.johnson-funeral.com.
