DOBSON — George Bauguess, 92, of Dobson, passed away on July 25, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. Mr. Bauguess was born in Wilkes County on Dec. 8, 1921, to the late Matthew and Bertie Billings Bauguess. He served in the United States Army Air Force and served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Reick Bauguess; sisters, Hazel Joines, Anna Lee Carter; son-in-law, Donnie D. Layell. Mr. Bauguess is survived by his loving daughter, Gaye Layell of Dobson; grandchildren, Krystal Luce and husband John of Dobson, Kris Layell and wife Erin of Roanoke, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Jackson Luce, Oliver Layell, Olivia Layell; nieces and nephews, James Joines, Steve Carter, Karen Abee, Lynn Philips, Ellen Reeves, Martha Pendergrass. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Dobson Town Cemetery led by the Rev. Mickey Brooks. Military Honors will be presented by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
