ELKIN — Mr. Graham Click Johnson, 87, of Elkin, died Dec. 7, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 8, 1926, to Russell Coston and Margaret Click Johnson. He attended Elkin City Schools, Pfeiffer College and UNC Chapel Hill. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was retired from the N.C. Department of Insurance fire and rescue division. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elkin and the Elkin Rescue Squad, where he had served as captian. He had been commander of the N.C. State Rescue Squad Association. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Elkin Fire Department. He was a past master of Elkin Masonic Lodge, he was an 18-degree York Rights Mason and a member of the Elkin-Jonesville Shrine Club. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Peggy Lineberry Johnson; a son, Eugene Click Johnson; one brother, Russell Johnson; and one sister, Nan J. Norman. Surviving are one daughter, Sally (Linda) Johnson of Elkin; one son, David (Tammy) Johnson of Ronda; one granddaughter, Allison Paige Johnson of Jonesville; and one brother-in-law, Fred C. Norman of Elkin. A graveside service will be held at Hollywood Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday with military honors by VFW Post 10346 and masonic rites by Elkin Masonic Lodge. A memorial service will follow at First United Methodist Church in Elkin at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Mark Barden and Dr. Bill Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at First United Methodist Church in Elkin. The family suggest that any memorials be made to Children's Home Society of North Carolina, P.O. Box 14608, Greensboro, NC 27415; or Elkin Jonesville Shrine Club, P.O. Box 587, Elkin, NC 28621. John Kennedy, funeral director, is assisting the Johnson family with funeral arrangements.
