Pearl Vaudie Harris Osborne

Mrs. Pearl Vaudie Harris Osborne, 99, of 865 Elk Spur St., Elkin, NC went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at her home. She was born on April 10, 1914 in Yadkin County to the late Yancey Lee Harris and Lellar Vestal Harris. She married Huey Glenn Osborne on January 7, 1933.

Mrs. Osborne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was the oldest living member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Jonesville, where she was a faithful member until her health failed.

Mrs. Osborne worked on the family farm as she grew up in the Bethel community. After marriage she was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their farm, also in the Bethel community. Mrs. Osborne's first public job was in the Ronda School lunchroom from 1943-1945. In 1953 she and her family moved to Greensboro where she worked at Morrison-Neese Furniture Store. Next she worked at Sears as manager of the home decorating workroom and in the receiving department for 25 years. After retiring, she and her husband returned to Jonesville where she volunteered at the Yadkin Valley Senior Center nutrition site.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Huey Glenn Osborne; brothers, Grady Harris and William (Bill) Harris; sisters, Ethel St. John, Pernie Cheek, Hallie Pardue, Anne Sparks; two grandson, Alvin Dale Wells, Ralph Clyde Osborne Jr.; great grandson, Andrew Michael Wells; sister-in-law, Etta Harris; brothers-in-law, Grady St. John, Smith Cheek, Carl Pardue, Clarence Sparks, Arvil Swaim, Johnny (J.P.) Ashley.

Mrs. Osborne is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Wells (H.M.) of Jonesville; sons, James Glenn Osborne Sr. (Nellie Faye) of Julian, NC, Ralph Clyde Osborn, Sr. of Keeling, VA; sisters, Ruby H. Swaim and Betty H. Ashley both of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Hiram Michael Wells (Shirley) of Asheville, Laura Wells Parker (Ken) of Elkin, Kenneth Lee Wells (Michelle) of Elkin, James Glen Osborne, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Wilson, Steven Wayne Osborne of Henderson, Timothy Mark Osborne of Henderson, Diane Hazelwood of Whitsett, Mark Anthony Osborne (Jean) of Eden, Timothy Clyde Osborne (Karen) of Eden, Teresa O. Brooks of Danville, VA, Ralph Michael Osborne of Keeling, VA, Charles Lee Osborne (Micki) of Keeling, VA, Samantha Dawn Osborne of Nashville, TN, several great and great-great grandchildren, two step grandsons, David Roberts of Raleigh and Jon Roberts (Melissa) of Sarasota FL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Jonesville. Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 2:00p.m. led by Rev. John Attaway at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Eulogy will be delivered by James Glenn Osborne, Jr. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Ronda.

Pallbearers will be Michael Wells, Kenneth Wells, Glenn Osborne, Jr., Steven Osborne, Mark Osborne, and Ken Parker.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 211 Cedarbrook Rd., Jonesville, NC 28642 or Senior Meals, Yadkin Valley Senior Center, 121 Delos Martin Dr., Jonesville, NC 28642.

The family would like to give special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Yadkin Valley Home Health for their tender loving care of Mrs. Osborne.
