JONESVILLE — Leo Russell Colbert passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital after a short illness of ALS. He was born in Yadkin County on July 20, 1933, to John H. and Lucy Hair Colbert. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company with 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Bobby" Colbert; his parents; and five brothers, an infant brother, Clyde, Phillip, Tommy "Lem" and Bruce. He is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Greg) Gilpin of Jonesville; one son, Dennis (Darlene) Colbert of North Wilkesboro; two granddaughters, Barbara "Doobie" Gilpin of Jonesville and Jennifer (Jasten) Combs of Ronda; one great-grandson, Zack Combs of Ronda; one nephew, Bobby (Lynn) Colbert of Elkin; and two special friends, Bud and Gladys Bauguess of Elkin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Jerry Childress and the Rev. Rex Walker.
