RONDA — Bobby Lee Calhoun, 75, of Ronda, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical center. Mr. Calhoun was born in Surry County on April 8, 1938, to the late Early and Beulah Benge Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Dan Ervin Calhoun. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara D. Calhoun of the home; son, Kevin Cockerham of Elkin; daughter, Lori Calhoun Hemric and husband Steven of Elkin; two very special grandchildren, Garrett Hemric and Caleb Hemric; brother, J.C. Calhoun and wife Darlene of Welcome; sisters, Coleen Collins and husband Clyde of Elkin, Analene Pruitt and husband Jimmy of King; sister-in-law, Louise Johnson Calhoun of Elkin; and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Cool Springs Baptist Church led by the Rev. David Key and the Rev. Russ Nixon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, the staff of Forsyth Medical Center, and also Dr. Thomas Grote for the wonderful care that was given to Mr. Calhoun.
