Enrique Alvidrez, Jr., passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Bastrop Nursing Center in Bastrop, TX at the age of 75. Enrique was born on April 14, 1938 in El Paso, Texas to Enrique Sr. & Beatrice Horr. He served his country in the US Navy and became a letter carrier for the US Postal service. Preceded in death by his parents: surviving him are his wife, Carolina Alvidrez of El Paso; his children, Aida D. Johnson of Austin, Lorina A Prentice & husband Michael of Austin, Yvonne Mason & husband John of El Paso, Henry Alvidrez III & wife Addy of Del Valle; Michael A. Alvidrez & wife Karla of El Paso; Elizabeth Chairez & Jose of El Paso; Jose E. Cardenas & wife Lupe of Tucson, AZ; 11 grand-children and 6 great grandchildren with one on the way. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm. Thursday, August 22, 2013 with a vigil at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 8:45 am Friday, August 23, 2013 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 3021 Frutas. Committal service will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 10 am. Mr. Alvidrez,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
