SALINAS, RUTH - El Paso
Ruth P. Salinas, 82, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Ruth was born on December 9, 1933 in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1951. She married another Bowie Bear, Arturo Salinas, on December 28, 1957 and together they raised three daughters. Ruth enjoyed gardening, baking, and sewing. She made the world's best brownies! She made matching clothes for her daughters, several suits for her loving husband, and even the curtains in her home. Ruth loved listening and dancing to all kinds of music. She loved yellow roses, chocolate malts, and traveling to different states. She loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her two granddaughters. Ruth always said she wanted to give her children two things: one is roots, the other is wings. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Enedina and Rafael Peña; and by her sister, Norma. She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 1/2 years, Arturo Salinas; daughters: Norma Salinas, Leticia Alvarez, and Monica Salinas; son-in-law, Sam Vasquez, Fred Alvarez, and Marcel Pierel; two beautiful granddaughters: Kristine Noelle and Natalie Ruth; brother, Rafael Peña Jr., wife Cristina, and sons Ruben and Rudy. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 9:00 pm; the Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home East at 750 N. Carolina Drive. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 2301 Zanzibar. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please honor Ruth by making a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or to your favorite charity. SALINAS, EDMUNDO - Deming
Edmundo L. Salinas, 73, a resident of El Paso, TX entered eternal rest Sunday, June 19, 2016. Edmundo was born on September 12, 1942 in Lordsburg, NM to Luz Salinas and Josefina Lopez. My Grandpa had many passions in his life, from talking about his hometown of Lordsburg, NM and the trouble he used to get in as a kid, to his love for trains that grew when he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. Above all that, he was the most passionate about his family. His devotion to his wife of fifty years always went unaverred even in his toughest times battling cancer. He always enjoyed working outside on his land picking pecans with his family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and would always assist in any way he could with church activities. He will forever be our Superman and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Dolores Salinas; his children, Blanche Baer, Antonio Salinas, Alma Melendez and Lupita Valdez; his two son-in-law's Jose Melendez and Alika Valdez; and eight grandchildren Crystal, Cassandra, Mandy, Kainoa, Justin, Jason, Kitty, and Kale'akai. He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Yvonne Salinas. The visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 5-6pm at St. Joseph's Church of Lordsburg, NM. Following the visitation, will be the rosary at 6pm with Manuel Ramirez officiating. The funeral mass will also be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 3pm with Father, Celimo Osorio officiating. The funeral mass will be followed by interment at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg, NM. Serving as pallbearers are, Maria Valdez, Alika Valdez, Kainoa Valdez, Alma Melendez, Jose Melendez, Justin Melendez, and Jason Melendez. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels "Trusted care for the ones you love" ~ 575-546-0070. To send your condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapels.com
