Chávez, ALFREDO - El Paso  
Alfredo V. Chávez, 89, of Carichi, Chihuahua, Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2016 at his home in El Paso, Texas surrounded by his family. He leaves his seven children, Jose G. Chávez, Margarita Hannaway, Paula Chávez, Jose A. Chávez, Martha Chávez, Ernesto M. Chávez, and Lourdes Smith, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. His work ethic was exemplary. To help his mother, he lied about his age and joined the Mexican Navy when he was 16 years old. He immigrated to the United States in his early 30's to provide a better future for his family. With his limited education, but great tenacity and intelligence, he founded his own construction company. He constructed both commercial and residential homes and proudly boasted that his finished products were "bien hechas". He not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the many friends he made during his time in business. He instilled in his children the importance of education so that his future generations would succeed. A mass is scheduled at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 12:00 noon. At his request, no other services will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alfredo V. Chávez's name to: Special Olympics Texas (on check memo section please indicate "Hill Country Stars" 1804 Rutherford Lane Austin, Texas 78754

Glenn Mark Cicchetti, 61, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2016. He passed away peacefully in his home with his daughters by his side. He worked with EPISD for 30 years, as an electrician. His passions included music, playing the guitar, painting, golf & dancing with his daughters as their partner in ballet. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Matthews. His proudest moments involved those spent with his family, for he was a loving father & grandfather. Glenn was born September 9, 1954 to Mario (+) & Alese Cicchetti. Glenn is survived by his wife Michele (Barrows) of 41 years; his beautiful daughters, Jennifer Pearce & Kristina Cicchetti; son-in-laws Nicolas & Ryan; grandchildren: Holden, Audrey, Allison, & Amber Pearce; his mother Alese; his brother Dale & Tammie; sisters Tammi & Scott Woods & Billie Carmody; in-laws Paul & Jamie Barrows, Michael Barrows, Matthew & Karyn Barrows, & Patrick & Becky Barrows; & 16 nieces & nephews. Preceded in death, by his father Mario & brother Farrell. He was loved by all who knew him. May he rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. Rosary will be held Sunday June 26th, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthews Catholic Church.

COOK, ELENA - El Paso  
Elena Martinez Cook, age 85, passed away on June 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ralph cook. She is survived by her son, Armando Martinez and his wife Grace, grandson Armando Martinez Jr.; granddaughter Rosanna Flores and Marcela Acosta; great-granddaughters, Valerie, Isabel, Madison, Evelyn, Aubrey and Lily; Brother Armando Martinez (Lolly) and Sister Mina Lujan (Nacho). She has one nephew, Ignacio Lujan Jr., three nieces, Dolores Hernandez, Lupita Lujan and Grace Martinez; 2 grand nieces, 2 grand nephews and several cousins in Seal Beach, West California and Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1948 and was employed by Peyton Packing Company for 19 years in the bookkeeping and Data Processing Departments; also by Honolulu Iron Works in Honolulu, Hawaii; California State University in Los Angeles and Cremans Engineering in El Paso. She retired from UTEP after 23 years, being employed in the biology dept. for 8 years and 15 years in the Vice President's Office for Academic Affairs. Rosary will be at Hillcrest Funeral Home East, Yarbrough and Carolina on Mon., June 27th, 2016 at 7pm. Funeral Mass at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church on North Loop and Hunter at 9am on Tue., June 28th, 2016.
