MOWAD, JERRY - El Paso  
JERRY MOWAD passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the age of 71. Jerry was a native El Pasoan and graduate of Austin High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country in Viet Nam. He retired from the El Paso Natural Gas Company where he worked for 30 years. Jerry was a lifelong horseman and animal lover. During his life Jerry enjoyed showing, training, roping and riding horses. Another heartfelt part of Jerry's life was the companionship of his dogs, all of which were rescues. His beloved dog Westy passed away in May of this year after 11 years by his side. His love for horses and dogs was surpassed only by his love of the outdoors. One of his greatest pleasures was driving his tractor at home with his grandson Tristan alongside him. He is survived by his loving companion and partner Kelly Dickson, daughter Danielle Mowad, grandson Tristan Mansion, brothers Mike, George , and Johnny Mowad. A memorial will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rio Grande Valley Ranch located at the corner of Farm Road 259 and Strahan Rd. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Animal Rescue League of El Paso. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West. Please visit our online guestbook at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net

ROBY- PAUL EDWIN NAY, 79, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015, in Rotan. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Roby, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, and from 4:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home in El Paso. Born April 17, 1936, in Dodge City, Kansas, Paul was the son of Daniel Clayton and Viola (Shoemate) Nay. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1954, and from El Paso Community College with a degree in Fire Technology. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On October 18, 1958, he married the love of his life, Joan Ann Friedrich, in Nyack, New York. The couple settled in El Paso, where Paul worked for the El Paso Fire Department from 1960 until 1983, and as an Arson Investigator for the New Mexico Fire Marshal's Office from 1983 until 1998. After retiring from the Fire Marshal's Office, Paul and Joan moved to Roby in 1998. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Viola Nay. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Nay of Roby; three daughters, Lynda Barnes and husband, Richard, of El Paso, Debra Vera and husband, Eddie, of El Paso, and Lois Quintela and husband, Ricky, of Del Rio; one sister, Bette Davis of Justin; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

OLIVAS, JOSE - El Paso  
Jose Celso Olivas, 91, of El Paso, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family, August 29, 2015. He was born on July 28, 1924. He proudly served in the United States Army as a PFC from August 23, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1946. Jose worked for Prices Creameries Dairy as a route salesman for 39 years and retired. He loved to go fishing, hunting, dance, and watch football (The Dallas Cowboys). Jose is preceded in death by his late parents, Jose Olivas Sr. and Maria Estela Duran. He leaves behind his Wife, of 66 years, Maria Estela Olivas (Gonzales); sons; Richard (Toni) Gonzalez, Joe (Blanca) Olivas Jr., Robert Olivas, and daughters; Jenny Duron, Frances (George) Galindo, Rosie Morales, and his 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters, and 1 great-great- great granddaughter that he adored dearly. His family will be forever grateful for the wonderful life he provided them. You will forever be in our hearts. You will be greatly missed. Pall bearers; Jimmy Olivas, Ernie Morales, Stephen Olivas, Jason Olivas, Joe Olivas III, and George Galindo, Randy Olivas, Michael Olivas. Flowers designed by granddaughter Patricia A. Sierra. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-9:00pm with a Vigil at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 12:15pm on Friday, September 4, 2015 at San Antonio Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
