Antonio "Tony" Candelaria, 88, El Paso resident, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2014. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born June 14, 1925 in San Elizario, Texas. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he married and had 4 children. In 1963, he moved his family to Santa Ana, CA. After a divorce, he moved back to El Paso to care for his elderly parents, Felipa and Andres Dearo. He re-married in 1974. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Hermelinda; his 4 children from Orange County, CA, Rita Roberts, Patricia Carter, Daniel Candelaria and Esther Gonzales, and their families; and Avelino Candelaria and Isabel Doria and their families in Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was well-loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 8:45 am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 10:00 am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
