Barbara Balliew Spillar passed away peacefully in her sleep in her own home on February 11, 2014. Barbara Ann Wehner was born in Del Rio, Texas on August 8, 1929 to Huldah and Fritz Wehner. She joins her parents and husband J. W. Balliew in heaven along with many of her dearest friends. Barbara is survived by husband, Stuart William Spillar, sons, Jeff and John Eric and beloved grandchildren Joanna, Jennifer, Danielle, Emily, James and Edward and by her dearly loved brother Byrom. She will be remembered as a servant to all in need, to strangers, friends and family, to her church family and to thousands of her former kindergarten, first and second grade students from Cadwallader and Glen Glove Elementary Schools. Barbara was a wonderful and long-suffering mother to her two sons. She was a proud Aggie Mom and Grandmother and a proud Daughter of the Republic of Texas. Barbara was the great great granddaughter of the thirteenth signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The family wishes to thank her handyman Manuel Gallegos for more than thirty years of dedicated service. A memorial service will be held on February 17th at 11:00 am at Faith United Methodist Church. A private interment will be conducted. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the West Texas, 4687 North Mesa - Suite 200, El Paso, TX 79912.
