Dorothy Salter Stringfellow left this earth in search of new adventures on February 26, 2014. Born Christmas Eve, 1921, in Haynesville, Louisiana to Emily Lang and Arthur Marlin Salter, she was educated in Houston and attended the University of Houston before enlisting in the Women's Army Corps during WWII. She served in the commanding General's office of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower's Air Service Headquarters in London, England. After discharge she married Ellis Reb Simpson and worked for major oil and gas companies in Houston, Corpus Christi, Farmington, NM and Salt Lake City. She transferred to El Paso in 1960 and retired after serving 28 years with El Paso Natural Gas Co. In 1970 she married William O. Stringfellow of Houston, a childhood sweetheart. Dorothy enjoyed 15 years of volunteer services at the Bookmark, operated by Friends of the Westside Libraries. Known for her wit, charm, dedication, resourcefulness, and loyalty in friendship, Dorothy had many friends of all ages and walks of life. She is preceded in death by husband Bill, grandson Brett Benson, and son Gerry Scudder. Dorothy is survived by daughter Nicole Grant of El Paso, daughter-in-law Sharon Scudder of Murfreesboro, TN and granddaughters Lara and Alanna and their spouses. Heartfelt thanks to special friends Norma, Cristina and Charlene for their devotion and care. At Dorothy's request, there will be no services.
