Josefa Alvarado

Josefa Trivizo Alvarado, July 7, 1920 - December 22, 2010. Josefa T. Alvarado passed away in Lake Jackson, Texas on December 22, 2010. Born in El Paso she attended the El Paso Public Schools. She was a very proud graduate of the original Bowie High School, built in 1927. She graduated as the salutatorian of the Class of January 1939. Among her prized possessions were two bricks taken from the original Bowie High. She worked at Thomason General Hospital and at Hotel Dieu Hospital for many years, both on the floors and in the accounting office. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-laws: Ruben and Josie Alvarado of Austin, Richard and Susan Alvarado and Robert and Carole Alvarado of Lake Jackson. She has two grandchildren, Catherine and Julia Alvarado. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jesus Alvarado; her infant son Daniel Alvarado; brother Santiago Trivizo and sisters Petra Bushell, Maria de Refugio Riley, and Maria Castillo. A visitation from will be held at Martin Funeral home at 3839 Montana Ave. from 5 to 9pm Wednesday, December 29th with a 7pm rosary. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday December 30th at 9:45am, followed by graveside services at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at11:00am.
