Odyses Fisher, 83, was born December 23, 1929 to Arthur and Ruby Wilson Fisher in Merritt, North Carolina. He was the only boy with five sisters. Odyses Fisher enlisted into the Armed Forces at the age of sixteen and retired after twenty years at the age of thirty six. He served two tours in Europe, one in France, Germany and Korea. He was stationed in Texas, Alabama, Florida, Maryland and at Carswell in Ft. Worth Texas where he met the love of his life, Alberta Alford. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on November 30, 1949. He was a member of Community Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and as a member of the Brotherhood until his health began to fail. He was a life member of the American Legion and a past member of the Sun City Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Fisher, father, Arthur Fisher and two sisters, Bernice James and Gloria Davis. Odyses Fisher passed from this life on March 7, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mrs. Alberta Fisher. This year in November they would have celebrated 64 years of marriage. He also leaves three loving sisters, Mrs. Arrimenta Estes (William) of Raleigh, NC., Mrs. Aliene Blunt (James) of Grantsboro, NC., and Margaret Wright, Raleigh, NC. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at Community Baptist Church, 7801 Phoenix Drive, on Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be at Community Baptist Church, March 15, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., with burial following at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
