ROGER PARKS

Roger Gary Parks July 19, 1936 - December 30, 2012 Roger G. Parks, born in Los Angeles, CA. son of Leonard & Virginia Parks died on Sunday, December 30th, 2012 after a long battle with Bladder, Bone and Brain Cancer. He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Jessie Parks and brother, Leonard Parks. He is survived by his wife, Maggie of over 52 years; daughter, Jacque Jean Parks and by his five adored grandchildren: Sarah Rae, Gwyneth Kathryn, Madeleine, Rhys Roger Kenneth & Helyne Olivia; sisters: Olivia Goldsmith and Brenda Parks, all of California. Roger Parks began his work experience with the United States Army where he met Maggie while stationed at Fort Bliss. He was honorably discharged. Roger's first teaching job was as a teaching assistant at Texas Western in 1964. Throughout Roger's Educational Experience, he was a School Board Member, History Teacher (Bel-Air, EPCC, Texas Western), Vice-Principal (Bel-Air, Cesar Chavez Academy), Principal (Riverside Middle, Ysleta HS, Santa Teresa, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Parkland Middle, Hacienda Heights Elem.), Instructional Team Leader (Ysleta ISD), Interim Superintendent (Ysleta ISD & Canutillo ISD) Superintendent (Ysleta ISD & Gadsden ISD), as well as Director Neighborhood Youth Corp 1970-71. Roger Parks was very active at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Parish where he was a lector, Eucharistic Minister, on the finance council and Principal of the Parochial school (2003-2005). Roger's favorite pastime was hunting and shooting. He was a member of Ysleta, Arroyo and Fort Bliss Gun
