SAEKO PADGETT

SAEKO "NANCY" PADGETT passed away peacefully in the care of her loved ones on Friday, Aug 16, 2013 at the age of 85 in Albuquerque, NM. She was a longtime residence of El Paso from 1960 to 2008. She was born in Osaka, Japan. She was one of 4 children and was the only one to leave Japan in 1952 when she married Robert A. Padgett, (1923-1986) Master Sergeant in the Army. Her first son, Arthur, was born in an Army base in Nurnberg, Germany in 1954. The family returned to San Francisco in Jan, 1956 where her second son, Robert, was born in Oakland in May. In 1960 the family moved to El Paso, where her third son, Paul, was born at Ft. Bliss. She was divorced in 1967. Nancy was a longtime employee of the Ft Bliss PX and retired in 1993 from the acct dept. She worked many years greeting customers as she checked IDs. She raised her three sons and had a strong work ethic, providing extra support through her entrepreneurial spirit. She participated in the community by establishing the first Japanese folk dance club in El Paso who performed at the Chamizal Theatre and were recognized by the mayor of El Paso. She was focused on education and proud that all three sons graduated from the University of Texas. She was also proud of the many accomplishments of her grandchildren who have graduated or are attending universities. Left to celebrate her life are her three sons, Arthur and his wife Kit, Bob and his wife Pat, and Paul and his wife Sherry. She has seven loving grandchildren, Michelle, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Julianne, Daniel, Bryan, and Ben. She is survived her younger sister and brother in Osaka Japan who she returned to visit many times. She accomplished much with her life will be missed and remembered by all.
