Rich was a rare individual that truly cared and was always in the moment. I was a punk kid running amok and felt like Rich and Marina were my friends. It so cool that Marina and Rich choose to support my dads cousin Jesse Whittenton Foundation. They had a special bond. Great memories of a great man!

Dear Marina, Don and I are heartbroken upon hearing about Rich. We all have such fond memories with you and Rich. Humble and kind epitomizes Rich. He was a true gentleman and will be missed by many. Now, he will be playing golf with his fellow angels in the Rabbit Game. R.I.P. Rich! With love, Don, Claudia, Wes, Brad, Denise and Barrett.

I met Richard Ellison when he hired me to work for the "Highway Department" 30 years ago. Richard was my mentor and my friend as he was to many "young people" who served under him. We owe our successful careers to his patient instruction and guidance. Richard was an excellent engineer who was admired and respected by both his fellow workers and the contractors he worked with while building and maintaining the highway system for Texas. Everyone who has heard of his passing has been broken hearted. Now, the band is back, Rich is having coffee with Big Jim, Charlie, Dodge and Frank.
I remember Hudy and I walking Scenic Drive with you and Rich, legs and lungs burning; and Rich, not even winded telling us the history of all the people who lived there. After we both moved, our friendship continued with emails, photos, and Christmas cards. But, friends still for 30 years.
Marina, we are so sorry for your loss, please know that you are in our prayers, and if you ever need anything, please call!

Richard hired me at the "Highway Department" 30 years ago. He was my mentor and friend, as he was to many of us "young folks" in the department. There are many of us who owe the success of our careers to Richard Ellison!
Richard was a true engineer, respected by his employees and the contractors who worked with him. El Paso can thank Richard for the interstate 10 projects along with many other roadways that were built correctly and are still in good shape today due to his knowledge, skill, teaching and supervision.
I remember Hudy and I walking Scenic Drive and in the Upper Valley with Rich and Marina; our legs and lungs burning and Rich not even being winded, telling us the history of early El Paso and the people who lived there.
Time, as it does, passed and Rich and Marina connected to John and I by emails and Christmas cards our friendship continued sharing notes and pictures of snowfalls, pets and family.
I am greatly saddened over the loss of Richard, as are everyone of the people I have spoken too. There is no one who has an unkind word to say about Rich, everyone respected and admired him. It is definitely a loss felt by us all.
Marina, words cannot express how sorry John and I are for your family's loss. You are in our prayers.
