Armando Garcia Obituary


MR. ARMANDO L. GARCIA, left us to join our Heavenly Father on Monday, December 15, 2008. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is already dearly missed. He brought life, love, and happiness to all his family and friends. Born in El Paso on January 28, 1927. Mr. Garcia is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Carmen E. Garcia and his 4 children: Magda Herrera (Eduardo), Armando Garcia, Jr., Sylvia Enriquez (Jaime) and Josie Garcia-Guzman. Mr. Garcia is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Maggie Ycaza, Eddie Herrera, Jr., Gabriela and Jamel Enriquez, and Kristen, Gustavo, Brittany, and Nicholas Guzman; and great-grandchildren: Corbin Beasley and twins Isabella and Raquel Herrera. Mr. Garcia was a proud veteran of World War II, where he was honored with military decorations including the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and WWII Victory Medal. After the war, Mr. Garcia served as a Civil Service Supervisor for the U.S. Army Air Defense Center at Fort Bliss. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Maria L. Garcia, brother, Hector Garcia, Sr. and sisters Elena Beltran, Esperanza Luna and Aurora Lopez. He is survived by brothers Luis and Emilio Garcia and sisters Carmen Herrera, Rosa Mata, Eva Lopez, Annie Richards, and Lucy Zamora. The family also wish to thank our Aunt Lucy Zamora and our parents neighbors, The Sanchez family for their continuous support and the caregivers at Providence Memorial Hospital, Las Palmas, and Del Sol Hospital for their dedicated services. The Garcia family will receive relatives and friends at Martin Funeral Home on George Dieter. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 21 from 5:00-9:00 P.M. with the rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, December 22, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on 519 S. Latta at 10:15 A.M. with interment to follow with Military Honors at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME EAST, 1460 GEORGE DIETER DR., EL PASO, TEXAS, 79936. (915) 855-8881.

Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
