Elvira Garza, 84, passed away in the early morning hours of March 7, 2013. Born and raised in Benavides, Texas; she moved to El Paso in 1960 with her husband where she settled and raised her family. She worked as a teacher in Ysleta Grade School and as librarian in Eastwood High School and Cedar Grove Elementary for over forty years. Her commitment to education made her an excellent teacher, and showed her children the importance going to college to better themselves. Her love of life and vibrant personality made her welcome wherever she went. She knew no strangers and her unconditional love and kindness reached beyond her family and friends. Her life will be celebrated by everybody she touched. She will be missed, but not forgotten. The lives she touched will forever remember the vivacious soul that everyone loved. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Orlando T. Garza. She is also survived by her two sons, Orlando Garza Jr. DVM (Rosemary), Rolando Garza (Linda), and her daughter Renee McCall (Rick). She has nine grandchildren. Brianna, Shelley, Megan and Andrea Garza, Jake Hernandez, Celina, Adrian and Sarah Gonzales, and Rikki McCall. She also has four great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church.
