Obituary Condolences

Guadalupe Viramontes Ochoa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 3, 2013. She was born March 15, 1919 in Calipatria, Cailfornia. Guadalupe was a beloved parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a member of the choir for many years. From an early age she had been known to possess a beautiful soprano voice, singing in concerts in the U.S. and Mexico. One of her biggest accomplishments was singing the title role in the operetta "The Merry Widow" in Liberty Hall c. 1950. She had retired after 30 years from R.E. Thomason County Hospital. She is preceded in death by her son Carlos Wheeler and survived by George Wheeler, Juan Ochoa (Patricia) of Massachusetts and Steve Ochoa (Mirna) of El Paso. She leaves behind four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. With her passing, a generation of siblings that included two sisters and four brothers comes to an end. Special thanks to Sondra Ontiveros and Gentiva Hospice. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 10970 Bywood Dr. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
