Guillermo R. Caballero (Willie), beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many was called home by our Heavenly Father on May 9, 2014. His arrival was greeted by his dear mother, Margarita R. Caballero and his dear wife of 65 years Rosenda H. Caballero, and grandson, Mario C. Estrada. He was born on February 16, 1922 in El Paso, TX. He was a radio announcer at X.E.F.V., and Master of Ceremonies for a local night club in Juarez, Mexico. He worked at Union manufacturing company in El Paso where he met his future wife Rosenda. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. He worked at Sears and Roebuck as a truck driver and after 38 years retired in 1984. During his retirement he worked as a school crossing guard for Y.I.S.D for 20 years. He was a lifetime member of V.F. W. Tigua Post 8782 where he served as a Jr. Vice Commander, Surgeon and Trustee. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the El Paso Scottish Rite. Dad was a gentle and kind soul who gave much of his time and energy to his family and friends. Daddy will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Maggie Soto (Santi), Isela (Sally) Elguera (Joe); sons Guillermo Jr., Oscar, Daniel Caballero; grandchildren Joseph and John Elguera, Ruben Estrada, Elisa E. Acosta, Guillermo Caballero, III, Isela Gallardo, Jobe and Juan Carlos Caballero; 16 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home with prayer service at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Friday, May 16, 2014 at 1:00pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home with interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Guillermo Caballero, Jr., Oscar Caballero, Jose Elguera, Joseph Elguera, John Elguera, Ruben Estrada, Santiago Soto, Jr.; Honorary Pallbearers: Daniel Caballero & Elisa E. Acosta
