Reverend Jerry Wilkerson Born on November 5, 1932 Passed on April 25, 2013 God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered, "Peace Be Thine." And so it was on the early morning of Thursday, April 25, 2013, Reverend Jerry Wilkerson surrendered all to his Maker and Creator, God. Reverend Jerry Wilkerson was the only child born to the late General Totten and Lula Wilkerson on November 5, 1932 in Mohawk, West Virginia. He attended Washington High School in Reidsville, North Carolina. At 17, he enlisted and served in the U.S. military for 26 years before retiring July 30, 1976 as a Master Sergeant while stationed at Ft. Bliss. He served during the Korean War, and Vietnam War, where he received two Purple Hearts. On the 30th day of November, 1957, he joined in marriage with Ethel Johnson in Reidsville, North Carolina. From this union of love, was born on September 1, 1961 their only child Valerie. On April 17, 1985, he became a Christian in Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized. In 1987, he became an ordained minister at Spirit-filled Outreach Ministers to serve God in many areas. His combined military and associate ministers' activities have earned him scores of awards, trophies, commendations, certificates, and letters of praise. He will be greatly missed by his wife Ethel; daughter Valerie Johnson and her husband Jack Allen Johnson; grandson Alan-Micheal Johnson; granddaughter, Khrystal Johnson (Louisville, Kentucky); niece, Canzadie Shaffer (Reidsville, NC); niece, Towanna Johnson (Newark, NJ); nephew, Tyrone Johnson (Newark, NJ); first cousin, Robert Earl Neal (Reidsville, NC); and adopted daughter, Judy Lynn Hall (Huntsville, AL); and a host of nieces, nephews, relative, and other surrounding and devoted friends. Viewing services will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, 5 pm to 9 pm at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral, 8817 Dyer Street, El Paso, Texas 79904, (915) 751-1287. Pastor Eddie W. Sinegal of Northeast Bible Fellowship is officiating. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 2, 2013, 12 noon at Northeast Bible Fellowship, 5505 Threadgill Ave., El Paso, Texas 79924. Pastor Eddie W. Sinegal will be the Officiant and the Eulogist. Burial immediately following the services at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
