Juan Francisco (Paco) Aguirre, 82, a native of El Paso, Texas, was surrounded by all his loved ones when he went to Heaven to be with His Savior on Saturday, December 1, 2012. Paco was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who made an impact on every life he touched. He was born on June 16, 1930, to Francisco and Teresita Aguirre. He attended Cooley Elementary and Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas. After school, Paco joined the
at the age of 19 where he served two years of service on an aircraft carrier. When he completed service to his country, he came home and married the love of his life, Sofia Mijares Aguirre. Paco subsequently began his career in law enforcement as a
for the El Paso Police Department, where he was employed for twenty seven years before retiring as a Sergeant. He then went to work for the El Paso Sheriff Department as Captain of the Criminal Investigation Division and subsequently transferred to the Traffic Division where he retired after ten years of service. His reputation as an officer was that of an honest, reputable, professional that went unsurpassed. In addition to his law enforcement career, he was also an experienced skilled mechanic, plumber, painter, and carpenter and possessed a natural ability to learn any task placed before him. Paco will be remembered for the love of his family, his witty sense of humor, and his big heart. His children will remember him for his strong presence in their lives and the impact he made on them as they were growing up. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who respected and valued him, will remember him for playing a significant role in their lives as a mentor. Paco will continue to be a part of our lives because he will live through everything he taught us. Paco loved life and lived every day with so much vitality and enthusiasm. He will be truly missed because of his compassionate nature and innate ability to make people laugh with his entertaining personality. Paco made our world a better place through his advice, knowledge and inspiring abilities. He was our guardian angel here on earth - we will miss him very much. Paco is survived by his wife, Sofia, his sons, John and Hector and is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Ann Chavez. We are thankful to all the doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital in Gilbert, AZ for the compassion they showed to Paco while he was in their care.
