JUAN MARTINEZ Obituary

Juan Alfredo "Freddy" Martinez, beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and pilot, took his final flight to heaven on August 27, 2014. He was born July 6, 1985 in El Paso, Texas. His wife and soulmate Damiana Martinez, his daughter Luciana Martha Martinez, and his soon-to-be-born son Freddy Thiago Martinez, will continue his legacy of joy, laughter, and light. His parents are Juan and Rosaura Martinez of Sunland Park, NM. His sisters and their husbands are Elizabeth and John Scott and Christina and Artie Swift Jr. His parents-in-law are Luis and Martha Martinez of Anthony, NM. His sister-in-law and her husband are Erica and Troy Mosely and his brother-in-law and his wife are Dustin and Jolene Martinez. Freddy was the most amazing uncle and was the first to start a football game or to swing a niece or nephew up onto his shoulders. He will live on forever in the hearts of his nieces and nephews Saeya Ande Swift, Makaia, Ariana, and Kenai Mosely, and Ryan Martinez. He will be missed everyday by his aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving relatives. Freddy's life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Francis Aviation, 8100 Airport Road, Santa Teresa, NM, 88008. Freddy's wife and family would like to thank their family and friends from the bottom of their hearts for all the prayers, well wishes, and help that were offered during this very difficult time. Freddy was a proud Desert Warrior graduate of Santa Teresa High School, Tribe of 2003 and an All-District safety on the football team. As a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, he was an avid Miner who could often be seen checking his phone for the scores of the latest games. He was a dedicated and outstanding pilot for a medical transport company and a certified flight instructor. Other than his wife and daughter, Freddy loved nothing more than to jet ski across a lake, snow board down a snowy mountain, off road in his much loved jeep, or to start a volleyball game at family parties. All of this was done with his trademark smile that could light up the room. He has left us too soon, but his family and all who knew him will continue to live following the example he set. Love those close to you as he adored his wife, child and son, live your life joyfully as he lived filled with childlike wonder at everything around him, take pride in your work and love what you do, as he loved being a pilot. And finally, as Freddy would say, "You know all those things you've always wanted to do! You should go do them."

I hold this candle in memory of you, hoping my love will shine through

Lost in the glow of this candle, there are so many things I want you to know

This candle says I love you, this candle says I miss you, this candle is saying I remember you

When I'm holding it towards heaven it feels like you are near

If you are looking down and see this candle burning bright, it says I'm wishing you were here

In the glow of this candle I can almost see your smile and it carries me away for a little while to another time another place, when all it took to light up my day was your beautiful face

Someday, someway, I'll see you again but in my heart I'll hold you until then

I love you Brodi.

I had taken a few flights with Blue Feather Aero. I remember seeing Freddy around the FBO chatting and laughing. He seemed like a nice person and I could tell he loved to fly. As a student pilot it said when a fellow aviator leaves us, my condolences.

Cindy and I flew with Freddy on several occasions. Even on a dark night at the airport, you could tell Freddy was coming. His smile gave him away. Freddy will be missed by all. Our sincere condolences to the Martinez Family.

My deep and sincere condolences on your loss of Freddy. I am a student pilot and had the opportunity to take one flight lesson with Freddy just a few weeks ago. I knew immediately that he was a special person. I guess God had an angel with no wings and needed a pilot for him. God bless his wife, parents and children.

Our hearts are just broken with this news. He was a great neighbor and we loved seeing outside with his daughter and Damiana. Sadly, we will be out of town on Saturday of his memorial, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Sadly Freddy leaves his fam.and friends with an emptiness in the heart, but for sure he also leaves very good memories to each. I can personally say he was such a great person. I remember him playing with my sister Eileen Alvarado as little kids always with a big smile inseperable i must say, in the desert looking for all kinds of insects, frogs etc. Etc. And how when they moved houses Freddys parents would come for her and my other sister Daisy Alvarado as my sisters would ask for permission when they were already outside waiting for them. Sooo many good funny fun memories they had together. He will sure be missed as he was an AMAZING friend, father, husband, brother , and son. R.I.P Freddy Martinez
