Obituary Condolences

Ledford Francis Beard "L. F.", 87, of Severna Park, Maryland and formelrly of El Paso, TX, died April 12. Born October 11, 1925 in Big Springs, TX., L.F. graduated from Texas Western College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He was an accountant at El Paso Natural Gas Co., Treasurer of the Circle K. Corporation and Office Manager for the El Paso Chamber of Commerce. L.F. was a U.S. Navy, Radarman 2nd Class, on fleet tug boats from August 13, 1943 to March 30, 1946 which included service during World War II. In 1962, he was a candidate for International 2nd Vice President of Active 20-30 International, a national organization improving the lives of local children. L.F. was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity; National Association of Fleet Tug Sailors; St. Paul's Anglican Church, Crownsville, MD., Downtown El Paso Lions Club Chapter President; Active 20-30 International Chapter President; and El Paso Genealogical Society President. His interests included golf (November 3, 1992 he scored a hole-in-one), rock polishing, genealogy, carpentry, and community service.L.F. is preceded in death by his wife, Jane A. Beard, whom he married April 8, 1948 and who died March 17, 2012; brother, Milton Beard; and sister, Martha Chilton. They are survived by two sons, John R. Beard of Youngstown, FL. And Jerome C. Beard of Pasadena, MD., brother, Wendell Beard of Temple City, CA; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. L.F and Jane will be interred together in El Paso on Thursday, October 10th, 2013 at 10:00 am at Restlawn Memorial Park.
